Sustainability initiatives

We source local, seasonal produce from trusted suppliers. We aim to be carbon neutral by 2025 and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 90% by 2045. Shorter supply chains, seasonal ingredients, free-range eggs, British Red Tractor-certified meat and MSC-licensed fish also mean peak freshness and flavour. Our farm-to-folk food waste reduction uses wonky vegetables, known for their unique character.

Allergen management

A strict code of conduct is in place to ensure the well-being of all children. We have allergen-free options, vegetarian/vegan options and alternate diets on our menus. Parents, staff and students can trace allergens and pre-order food on The School Food United digital platform. Our teams follow rigorous safety measures in the kitchen in preparing, labelling and holding special dietary menus and serving them in the dining hall.

Nutritionally Balanced Student Meals for School in Birmingham

We want to foster a healthy food culture in Birmingham schools. Our school meal programmes focus on healthy eating, sustainability, student engagement and food education. Individually designed for primary, secondary and 6th Form, our food services elevate school catering in Birmingham with professional insight and innovation. We ensure every child’s well-being with a meticulous food safety and allergen management system.

What catering services do you provide in Birmingham?
We offer three catering programmes for different age groups: Food Smart (Primary), The Kitcheneers (Secondary), and The Forum (Sixth Form). To implement these programmes, we are able to provide catering on-site and off-site, depending on the suitability for your school.
How do you promote health and well-being in Birmingham school menus?
The foundations of our school meal services are based on healthy, nutritious and tasty recipes that encourage positive relationships with food and mealtimes, with a particular focus on sustainability and pupil engagement.
How do you meet the needs of Birmingham’s diverse school population?
At AiP, we tailor our services to each school. It is important to us that all pupils and staff are represented in their food and dining culture. Because of this, we know that one menu does not fit all, so we work with our schools to customise menus that fit their schools and arrange fun, personalised experiences too.
How do you adapt catering solutions for large, busier schools?
Through our digital solutions, we have systems to ensure safety, quantity and quality of our school meals for schools of any size. It also allows us to provide outstanding catering while reducing food miles and waste. Our systems provide administrative support for schools and make catering payment systems for the schools and parents more streamlined.
What systems do you have in place for FSM (free school meals) in large Birmingham schools?
The payments administration part of our digital solutions system allows for daily breakdowns of FSM and UIFSM. Through School Foods United, child information is replicated in our system, including any allergen updates, FSM eligibility and class moves at the end of the year.
